What is Reiki?

Reiki (pronounced ray-key) means “universal life-force.”  It is the Japanese word for the energy that is in all living things and all around us. Reiki therapy is a powerful, but gentle, form of energy medicine. It is a hands-on, spiritually-guided healing art discovered in Japan by Mikao Usui in the early 1920's.

Reiki treatment aids the body in balancing its vital energy.   Through this energetic balancing, Reiki helps disengage the stress response and engage the body’s healing response.  Just as our body is able to heal better and rejuvenate while we are sleeping.
