Now is the time of year when we often participate in or perform holiday rituals. Of course, many are religious, as every religion has its rituals. However, not all rituals are religious in nature.

Recently, I was confronted with a problem and what amounted to a betrayal of trust. Reacting as most would feeling hurt and disappointed, I struggled with the feelings for a bit and found it absorbing my thoughts & ruining my day. I didn’t want my day ruined by being upset over someone else's actions. So, I decided to make a different choice; put away my work and focused on something else fun for a while.
I knew I didn't want to be coming at this dilemma from these emotions. I checked-in to see how I should best care for myself to get to where I wanted to be from how I was feeling in those moments.

I'm not a tax or insurance professional, but as a Reiki practitioner, I'm frequently asked if Reiki treatments (or Chakra Balancing treatments) are covered by insurance. The short answer is unfortunately not for most people yet. My advice is always to check with your particular plan because there may be exceptions. Not long ago, I read that there are a couple insurance(s) which now cover treatments such as Reiki, provided you have a "prescription" or a note of medical necessity from your doctor.

I stopped at Niagara Falls on my drive home. Weeks before I left, I tried to think of something I wanted to see in Toronto while I was there, but it was The Falls that kept calling me. I'm glad I answered that call and didn't try to force something else.

I’m often asked, “What is Reiki?” This week I was asked much more than usual so, I thought I’d share an article I wrote for the January, 2015 edition of Your Health Magazine

I was invited to be on a Blog Talk Radio show last night. It is an odd experience for me to have someone I didn’t yet know very well personally email me and invite me to speak. I was pleased and I’ll admit somewhat tickled that anyone would be interested in hearing me talk.

I knew I wanted to return to Sedona.
A year ago, on the second day of my Meditation Teachers' Intensive training at the McLean Meditation Institute, I found myself asking the assistants at my training about coming back to help and I hadn't even been through the full experience yet.

Happy New Year Dear Friends.
I wish wonderful blessings for you and hope that you have all you need and more this year.
There were many things swirling around for me at the beginning of the year and nothing quite settling into place until this week. I had expectations that various projects would have been finalized by the end of 2014 and already moving forward by January 1, but that wasn't the case. I had to pause and take it moment by moment and enjoy the process even though it wasn't moving fast enough for my liking.

That recipe card is well loved. It’s old, yellowed, batter-stained, and written in my grandmother's handwriting. I smile every time I see it. Not so long ago we started keeping it in a plastic recipe card cover. I suppose before it fades entirely, I’ll have to scan it for preservation.

Have you ever noticed the frenetic energy in and around your body caused by a hectic pace and a busy schedule? Over the past few weeks, I've had several people tell me about feeling in too much of a hurry and I've seen many others post or comment this week about the pace of the busy season they are trying to manage. Especially, at this time of year where their to do lists are extra long and breaks far fewer.
I learned something several years ago, and although I still catch myself sometimes, it has helped me a lot. It was another Aha moment for me when I noticed and because I've shared it recently with several people and am hearing about so many experiencing the same thing, I thought I'd share my lesson here.
How often do you tune in and check where your energy is?

I was paying less attention to what was going on around me when we were walking one day a couple weeks ago. . . I was enjoying the walk, and the opportunity for stepping away from the laptop and getting some fresh air, but I wasn't noticing the details around me.

October full moon rising on the evening after total lunar eclipse.
Yes, I had let things get out of balance and it was time for a shift. . . I read 3 books in 3 days, finally catching up on a little of the stack that has been patiently waiting for me to have more time. For the first time in a couple months I felt less pressure. Most importantly, I had NO schedule to keep.

I felt like my time was no longer my own. Of course that wasn’t really true. It was all my time. Everything I was doing was my own stuff. But I imagine you know what I mean. A part of me revolted. My inner child demanded a break. So, I scheduled some beach time before she refused to do anything whatsoever.
